Those who fell in love with Hogwarts Legacy back in 2023 were delighted to learn that a sequel was in development when it was revealed by insiders earlier this year.

However, with other projects in the same universe getting scrapped, it is understandable that many thought that the sequel would follow suit.

Luckily, it seems as though Hogwarts Legacy 2 is still in the works, with Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. coming together to continue the story of the RPG set in the Harry Potter universe.

Now, according to a recent report by Variety, it seems as though the Hogwarts Legacy sequel will aim to coordinate its plot with the upcoming HBO Harry Potter television show reboot.

However with the reboot, which is expected to retell the story from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series, taking place over a century after the events of Hogwarts Legacy, it remains to be seen how the timelines will come together.

Hogwarts Legacy became the best-selling game of 2023 and succeeded where many other Harry Potter projects, such as the Fantastic Beasts films, failed.

As a result, Warner Bros. president David Haddad said, “The rest of the company was very curious about what we helped to unlock with Hogwarts Legacy last year."

"Haddad says the games team has been coordinating some of the big-picture storytelling elements in the Hogwarts Legacy sequel with the storylines that will play out in the Harry Potter HBO series coming from Warner Bros. Television," the report by Variety reads.

As for Hogwarts Legacy itself, its main complaint has been the lack of content since the game was first released back in February 2023.

Other than the addition of a Photo Mode and a minor summer update back in 2024, no DLCs or expansions have been brought to the game.

Not only that but Avalanche Software reportedly had plans to develop the Hogwarts Legacy Extended Edition before this was ultimately scrapped.

Luckily, the sequel is still in the works and this recent development could mean seeing some of our favourite characters make their way into the hit RPG.
