Heartopia is currently crushing it in the Steam charts, and yet, it’s already set to break its concurrent player record sometime around Valentine's Day… and also in two minutes.
How, you ask? Through the power of friendship and magic, of course.
Heartopia is the latest Animal Crossing clone to hit the Steam store, but, unlike its contemporaries, this one is pulling in some very impressive numbers.
When it dropped on January 17 this month, it opened to a respectable 20,000-ish concurrent players. Since then, it has broken that record every single day.

As of writing, the current all-time player count peak is 59,094. That is, no exaggeration, as of two minutes ago. In fact, I know that by the time I finish writing this and refresh SteamDB, that number will be even higher.
Genuinely impressive stuff. It’s just a shame that some of the game’s assets are AI-generated, and that the devs behind the game didn’t admit that said assets are AI-generated until they were bullied into doing so.
Well, Hasbro clearly isn’t too bothered about all that, because the team behind Heartopia has been slowly teasing a big My Little Pony crossover for weeks now.

As of this morning, we finally know when it’s going to land. As revealed on the official @MyHeartopia X account, the Heartopia x My Little Pony crossover will be landing on Valentine's Day, for some reason.
Not entirely sure if there’s some significance to the date, or if this is just a way to offset the loneliness for the folks that will be alone on the date.
I mean, the Venn diagram of people who like My Little Pony and people who will be at home playing Heartopia by themselves on Valentine’s Day is a flat circle, so maybe there’s something to that.
So what does the event actually contain? According to the post on X, you’ll be able to “Wield Elements of Harmony and awaken the Tree of Harmony!” and also take part in a “Collaboration Speciality Exhibition.” I’m sure that’s hype if you understand what any of it means.
Oh, and I guess you’ll be able to dress up as the My Little Pony characters, too. I'm guessing the rainbow one is Rainbow Dash, the pink one is Pinkie Pie, and the purple one is Twilight Sparkle?
I Googled these names, by the way. I don’t just know what they’re all called off the top of my head.
