One Harry Potter fan was left ‘disgusted and appalled’ after attending an improvised fanfiction stage performance, where one of the actors told the audience to ‘suck his balls’

The improv show, titled The Spontaneous Potter, took place on the 17th of May, and left a lot to be desired amongst audiences, many of which were pushed to demand refunds. One viewer in particular, was incredibly offended by the show, prompting an early departure before its conclusion.

Reportedly consisting of four actors, The Spontaneous Potter is an improvised comedy show inspired by the enormously popular Potter franchise, consisting of books, previous films, games like Hogwarts Legacy, and even an upcoming HBO Max reboot show. The production’s description reads: "an entirely improvised wizarding comedy play, based on an audience suggestion of a fanfiction title."

The disappointed audience member wasn’t a fan though, saying “The first thing that the main character said when opening the show was, 'I have never watched a single Harry Potter film or read a single Harry Potter book, and you can suck my balls!’” leaving themselves and other members of the audience in shock.

They also said “It’s not really what I paid £20 each for a ticket for … it had nothing to do with Harry Potter.” A refund for the show was requested, but it’s unclear if one was received.

Responding to the complaints, the parody show said “It has always been clearly labelled as a 16+ parody show, which contains adult language. This is evident from reading the marketing blurb on our website and on all third-party sites. The 16+ age rating and adult language warning is made clear to all customers when purchasing tickets … We also offer a family-friendly children’s version of the show, for ages 5+."

Despite clearly not being everybody’s cup of tea, The Spontaneous Potter show has seen a lot of success over many years, reportedly being shown to over 100,000 people across the UK. It’s also not the first bit of controversy surrounding the wizarding world of Harry Potter, as fans are still condemning series creator JK Rowling for her offensive views and comments.
