Harry Potter fans reeling over abrupt cancellation of long-awaited release

Why, just why?

Harry Potter fans are reeling after learning that a long-awaited release has been abruptly cancelled behind the scenes and it makes no sense.

When Hogwarts Legacy was released in early 2023, fans quickly realised that this was the Harry Potter game they’d waited years for. Don’t get me wrong, the original PlayStation classics and the LEGO adaptations are fantastic, but Hogwarts Legacy was simply next-level.

Hogwarts Legacy proved to be a massive success, not only critically but commercially too, becoming the best-selling game of 2023. As such, it only makes sense that its publisher, Warner Bros. Games would greenlight a highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy 2.

However, before we’re treated to Hogwarts Legacy 2, which may be inspired by the upcoming live-action Harry Potter reboot from HBO, fans have also been desperate for the first game to get major story DLC.

There appeared to be no official indication that Hogwarts Legacy is getting story DLC, at least publicly. That being said, a recent report claims that DLC was in the works along with a Director’s Cut release, and for whatever reason, it’s been cancelled.

As you can imagine, Harry Potter fans are baffled by reports of the Hogwarts Legacy DLC. After all, it’s something that fans really want and surely, it would be like printing money for Warner Bros. Games.

“Bummer. I was looking forward to some fresh stuff while we waited,” said Redditor Toy-Boat-Toy-Boat.

“All I want is to be able to change seasons after completing the story,” exclaimed NateW9731.

“WB is a mess,” claimed BewareNixonsGhost. “I'd be surprised if there will ever be a sequel. ‘Still in development’ is a nothing phrase that could mean everything from full production to one guy working on concept art.”

“With how little WB has done with Hogwarts Legacy, I'm not inclined to buy Hogwarts Legacy 2,” replied rosebudthesled8.

There were plenty of other comments saying they’re okay with the DLC being cancelled, as long as it benefits the development of Hogwarts Legacy 2, which is a fair point.
