Halo's Long-Awaited Return Unveiled in New Trailer

Here's hoping this means the Flood are returning, too

Halo will be making a rather surprising return in the coming month on Xbox… and PlayStation.

It’s been a hot minute since we got a new Halo game, but Microsoft has made it very clear that they’ve not forgotten about the franchise.

And while today’s very out-of-left-field news doesn’t include the announcement of a new standalone title, it does mark an exciting collaboration between both Sony and Microsoft that will likely pave the way for an even more exciting announcement down the line.

Earlier last month, it was announced that the Sony published title Helldivers 2 will be making its way to both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X on August 26.

While that was obviously pretty big news itself, the latest trailer for the game, posted on Sony’s official PlayStation YouTube account, is arguably an even bigger deal.

Right at the end of the trailer, the iconic sting from Halo 3: ODST can be heard in the background. While no official announcement has come via either Microsoft or Sony, this is essentially confirmation that some kind of Halo crossover will be coming to Helldivers 2 at some point in the near future.

Obviously, it would make the most sense for this collaboration to drop on the same day as Helldivers 2’s official release on Xbox, which is less than two weeks away at this point.

Also, the fact that this trailer was uploaded by Sony themselves more than implies that the Halo content isn’t going to be exclusive to the Xbox version of the game.

We’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Arrowhead, Sony, or Microsoft to confirm exactly what kind of content will be making its way to the game, but I’d be surprised if it doesn’t include some Halo: ODST armour sets.

Alternatively, the Flood do seem like they’d fit right into the Helldivers 2 universe…
