As if it was delivered by the sinister G-Man himself, Half-Life fans have something truly special to play before Valve’s latest hardware launches.

The Half-Life fanbase has been through hell over the years as they’re still holding out hope for Half-Life 3.

Countless theories and memes have been shared hinting that this mythical game is no joke, but an actual project Valve is actively working on in secret.

While Half-Life 3 won’t be announced this week though that doesn’t mean fans need to go empty-handed as they’ll surely get a kick out of this free alternative instead.

Gordon Freeman Returns, But In The Last Place You’d Expect

As they wait for Half-Life 3 fans have taken it upon themselves to make their own Half-Life games, some of which can be found within others.

The latest is called Requiem for Ravenholm, a mod created by FlamingosPeak Workshop and available as a free download for 2026’s horror masterpiece Resident Evil: Requiem.

Resident Evil: Requiem welcomed back the iconic Resident Evil protagonist Leon Kennedy, but now it’s been repurposed to welcome back Gordon Freeman instead.

Not only does it replace Leon and Grace Ashcroft’s character models with Gordon and Alyx respectively, it also replaces all other characters and all of the game’s weapons with those found in the Half-Life games.

Gabe Follower posted a video of the mod in action on X and it’s simply divine. Somehow Half-Life characters lend themselves remarkably well to Capcom’s horror franchise. It’s not Half-Life 3 but it’ll do for now…

Resident Evil 9 just got a total conversion mod called "Requiem for Ravenholm", replacing Leon with Gordon, Grace with Alyx, and the rest of the characters and weapons with Half-Life assets. Currently available in early access on NexusMods. pic.twitter.com/Bm6q7B6G2D

Resident Evil Requiem isn’t the only one to see Gordon Freeman popping up where he probably shouldn't either.

The Jak And Daxter trilogy recently found its way to PC and one gamer turned the first game’s open-world into a playable Half-Life level, which makes for a very different game.

At least Requiem for Ravenholm still plays like a Resident Evil title albeit looking a bit different.

Just In Time For Steam’s Latest Hardware

The timing couldn’t be any better as today Steam will begin taking orders for its new Steam Controller. However there’s a warning for those eager to acquire this shiny, new hardware.

The Steam Controller is a costly bit of kit but from the look of things it’s going to be well-worth the price, as it’ll support games that require controllers in addition to those that benefit from mouse support.

As orders are placed and the controllers start shipping Steam users will no doubt turn their attention to the Steam Machine next.

At the time of writing Valve is yet to confirm a release date but some of the company’s recent activity implies the new console will be launching sooner than you’d think. The price, like the release date, is also unknown at this time.

Like the Steam Controller though first glances point to the Steam Machine being worth the money but only if you’re looking for a console-like PC gaming experience without the need for a fancy rig and monitor.
