The next major update arriving to Grand Theft Auto Online launches in just a few days but its players are already feeling disheartened over the new content.
Since it launched back in 2013 alongside Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online has managed to sustain a solid playerbase thanks to regular content updates and its dedicated roleplaying community.
With Rockstar regularly releasing new and exciting things to do in and around the city of Los Santos, this December is no exception with the arrival of the ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’ update.
Arriving to Grand Theft Auto Online on 9 December, there are just a few days to go until players can purchase and enjoy a highly sought after feature: mansions.

Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will also still release on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, players will now be able to really show off their wealth courtesy of GTA Online’s 1.72 Title Update.
However, ahead of the update’s full launch, a series of contact missions were made available to players throughout November, giving them the chance to explore the new Prix-Luxury Real Estate company and new character Valentina.
Completing these missions reward you with in-game cash and cosmetics so if you want to be able to get your hands on a mansion come 9 December, these are definitely worth undertaking.
With the mansions expected to be the priciest things in game, even more so than the current most expensive: the Luxor Deluxe Jet at $10,000,000, you are going to need all the help you can get.

However, despite it being just a few days until the launch of ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’, players are already feeling sceptical about the update and recently took to r/gtaonline to share their thoughts.

Fans Are Not Feeling the Hype
“Without trying to sound overly pessimistic, I genuinely find it funny that the GTA community thinks this mansion's update is going to be anything other than underwhelming.

Everything we’ve heard so far makes it seem like a copy-paste of Devin Weston’s mansion,” one user shared.
“By the same day or the next, there’ll be zero replay value, and the mansion will just be another overpriced $10 million dollar property with no real purpose.
Rockstar hasn’t put real effort into mission design in years, so I’m not expecting anything different here.”
However, for user J-Feelz, it is worth considering it from a different angle.

“Man, we might be looking back on this in astonishment that Rockstar has been doing free content for so long,” they put forward.
“I hope I’m wrong, and yeah it probably will be underwhelming but could be worse, it could be RDR2.”
User DEATHSTARGOD agreed, adding, “Better than nothing for a 12-year old game.”
It really does depend on which way you look at it but with the update not expected to launch until Tuesday, it is perhaps worth giving it the benefit of the doubt until we can at least experience what it has to offer.
