The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has already broken a record, although I wouldn’t exactly say this is the type of achievement that Rockstar Games will be too thrilled about.
November 16 2024 marked a momentous day in Grand Theft Auto history, a day that some in the community feared coming to pass.
That’s because, as of Monday, it’s officially been over 378 days since we received the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI.
So why is that significant? Well, there were 378 days between the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V and its second trailer… which led some poor folks into thinking that the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was imminent.

In classic r/GTA6 fashion, the community had managed to hype themselves up for a reveal that never came - nor was, in any way, teased.
What led everyone to start theorising about a second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI then? Does the release date of Grand Theft Auto V’s trailers really have any bearing on when Rockstar Games might publish a new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer?
In short, no. The community just gassed themselves up for one based on this milestone and nothing else, as others in the thread were quick to point out.
“I hate people comparing gta6 launch timeline to gta5's,” commented user D4rk5id3, “Gta 5 got 13 screenshots and 2 artworks between trailer 1 and 2.”
“Will you all stop frothing at the mouth for this game and chill out?” replied user Crabb_Rangoon.
Also, I just wanna add, Grand Theft Auto VI will almost definitely take longer to develop than Grand Theft Auto V did.
Rockstar always go bigger and better with every new sequel, so development times naturally balloon more and more with each new entry in a franchise. A second trailer for GTA VI was always going to come out later based solely on this fact alone.
Look guys, enjoy your Christmas. Take a couple of weeks off of the hype train. And when you’re back and well-rested, maybe you will actually have a second trailer. Maybe.
