GTA 6 latest teaser promises we're nearing the finish line

Of course, "slippage" is still possible, according to Take-Two's CEO...

According to Take-Two’s CEO, Rockstar Games’ “desire for creative perfection” is the reason behind any lack of updates for Grand Theft Auto VI… but it sounds like, finally, the developer is nearing the finish line.

Thank you in advance to Dexerto’s Connor Bennett for the original story (per CNBC).

In a recent interview with CNBC, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick sat down to discuss the expectations and hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI’s release.

“Well, what Rockstar Games puts into all of their titles is a desire for creative perfection, which is why it takes a long time and why it’s complex and, of course, nervous-making… We don’t claim success until it occurs,” Zelnick revealed.

“Grand Theft Auto 5 has been the standard bearer for the industry for three generations. Grand Theft Auto 6, what can I say? There is enormous anticipation both inside our company and in the marketplace as a whole. We couldn’t be more excited.”

This of course follows Take-Two’s recent investors call, in which they stated that GTA VI’s release is still on track for a late 2025 release.

Said comments do sound suspiciously familiar to an interview Zelnick had with IGN however, just prior to the investors call meeting, in which he stated that “slippage” is still possible.

“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things,” Zelnick told IGN's Wesley Yin-Poole, “We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs.”

So, should we be hopeful, or should we be doomers about it?

I vote neither. I think Zelnick’s comments are leaving things open on purpose, because Rockstar don’t quite know when the game is going to be ready - regardless of how hopeful Zelnick wants things to sound.

Just don’t get too set on a 2025 release date folks. There’s plenty of time for them to change their minds.
