GTA VI players are stunned by a fan-made trailer inspired by the PlayStation 2 era packed with easter eggs and nods to the original games that had us doing that Leo-pointing meme IRL.

With the launch of GTA VI on the horizon later this year, excitement for the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title is continuing to build, and fans are eagerly waiting for the third trailer as well as details on the next iteration of GTA Online.

However, as excited as we are for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, you might have to wait a bit longer, with a rumoured and very strange potential release date delay on the cards. While we wait, we've got this class little fan project to tide us over.

What if GTA VI Were Released on the PlayStation 2?

While we wait for GTA VI trailer three, and the all-important details on the next GTA Online, a talented fan has created and released an awesome trailer of their own. It's inspired by the classic Grand Theft Auto games that were released on the PlayStation 2.

The PS2 era could be considered somewhat of a golden time for the Grand Theft Auto series, which had some of the best games in the franchise, including GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas.

The fan-made GTA VI trailer in question, created by Foosmoke, looks to be particularly inspired by GTA: San Andreas, and it's a recreation of the second trailer released by Rockstar Games in May 2025. Check it out below and show the creator some love!

Interestingly, this fan-made PS2-inspired GTA VI trailer was actually released during the same month as the official Rockstar Games second trailer.

So kudos to its talented and swift creator.

“Me in 2005, ‘These graphics are so realistic’,” joked canaldoquintao in the YouTube comments section.

“Remember, these were the peak graphics at a time,” replied Arthur-Lenny-Morgan.

“Love these PS2 era trailers,” exclaimed ToastyGaming01.

“This PS2 version gives a whole new perspective to this GTA VI trailer. It shows how much it has advanced!” said Jarnamhar.

“OMG, you even got the old announcer guy at the end! I haven't heard him in forever. NICE WORK!” declared RocketDescends.

I'd absolutely love a filter for GTA IV that brings these graphics to the original game, Dragon Quest style.

Assuming that Grand Theft Auto VI suffers no further delay, it will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The PC port hasn't been announced by Rockstar Games yet.

We'll let you know if anything changes.
