A new GTA 6 release date update has got fans hyped, but we’re still a ways off from launch.
Rockstar Games is planning to release Grand Theft Auto 6 next May, and it’s looking like this is probably the most hyped up video game release of all time.
While we don’t have details on pricing, pre-orders, or even a third trailer yet, some fans are clearly having a hard time with the long wait for the release.
As pointed out by GTA 6 Countdown, an X account dedicated to GTA news, we’re now nine months away from the release, meaning we’re finally into a single-digit countdown.

Obviously, some fans are being completely normal about this revelation.
“We’re getting closer guys stay alive,” writes one person underneath the post’s replies.
“Just have to keep reminding myself not to die within the next nine months,” writes another.
“Ok guys, if you’re going to have a child to time your paternity leave with the release, now’s the time,” writes a third commenter. I think it goes without saying, but please don’t do this just for a video game.

GTA 6 was originally announced in December 2023 with a release window of this year, but this was delayed back in May until next year.
Shortly following this news, the developer released the second trailer along with a large number of screenshots. Fans are hopeful that a third trailer will be released at some point prior to launch, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
However, some fans are still convinced that Rockstar will announce another delay a bit closer to release, potentially setting the game back to Autumn 2026. However, there is no substantial evidence that this will be the case.
GTA 6 will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26th May, 2026.
