Despite being confirmed earlier this year, the Grand Theft Auto VI release date is still on everybody’s mind with some fans worried that we are set for another delay.
That being said, with another update on the way, those concerns may very well be justified.
Earlier this year saw Rockstar Games announce that the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI would be delayed from Fall 2025 to 26 May 2026.
Although this came alongside a second official trailer to placate fans, many were still heartbroken over the news.

However, if time does one thing, it is move and now we are less than ten months away from the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Or are we?
On 7 August, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive will be having its next earnings call and if you are a seasoned Grand Theft Auto fan, then you will know that these calls often come alongside updates for GTA VI.
Since the second official trailer and subsequent website launched, we have received no further updates on GTA VI so this would be the perfect time to provide confirmation on that May 2026 release date.

However, according to reliable leaker Millie A, we may not actually see Grand Theft Auto VI until September 2026.
According to Millie, “internal talks suggest a possible slip to September” and if true, we could see Take-Two confirm this in its upcoming earnings call.
If true, a further four-month delay would be another massive blow to GTA fans but perhaps unexpected considering the sheer size and ambition of GTA VI.
Best case scenario will be that the 7 August earnings call will see Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirm that the next Grand Theft Auto title is still on track for its 26 May 2026 release so fingers crossed that this is the case.
