GTA VI be damned, because it looks like we're finally getting the Red Dead Redemption release we’ve been waiting for, later this year.
Don't get me wrong, we're as excited as anyone to get our hands on the next entry in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series. However, it’s going to feel like an agonising wait for GTA VI to grace us with its presence in May 2026.
In the meantime, if you’re after some Rockstar Games goodness to keep you busy, it’s still a blast revisiting the likes of GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, not to mention GTA IV and GTA V, of course.

However, let’s not forget the other darling of Rockstar Games, none other than the fantastic Red Dead Redemption series, in particular, the 2018 prequel starring Arthur Morgan.
There have been countless rumours that Rockstar Games will release a new-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
While nothing has been officially announced yet, industry insider and YouTuber, NateTheHate, claims that the new-gen update will arrive later this year alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port (thanks, Reddit).

It’s claimed the new-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 could arrive “a few months” after the Nintendo Switch 2, which would place it in the ballpark of September, onwards.
It’s not stated whether this new-gen update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be delivered via a patch, but considering Rockstar Games has charged a typical RRP for new-gen releases of GTA V in the past, I’d expect history to repeat itself.
As always, we should take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, but we’ll update you once we learn more.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s also backwards compatible on current systems.
