If you’re interested in pre-ordering Grand Theft Auto VI, it might be wise to have your wallet or payment card at the ready.
It’s widely believed that pre-orders for Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated new release will launch today, and the evidence to back that up continues to multiply.
It was US-based retailer Best Buy that was first responsible for sharing today’s date, Monday 18 May, as one of significance.
Last week, it issued an email to affiliate partners offering 5% commission on GTA VI pre-orders from 18 to 21 May.

Multiple popular internet users reported receiving the email with Insider Gaming, verifying the email as legitimate.
There was, however, still some uncertainty as to when pre-orders would open as some suspected they may open ahead of 18 May with Best Buy not wanting to offer commission within those first few days of availability.
That clearly isn’t the case as Monday, 18 May has arrived with pre-orders still not live which is why many, without a shadow of a doubt, believe today is the day.
As if to offer us a sign that we’re right, the PlayStation Store has issued a subtle update.
If you run a Google search for GTA VI on the PlayStation Store, the brief preview of the page now states “Free Delivery” which it didn’t before.
You can see that for yourself in a screenshot from a fan account, GTASixInfo below.
Multiple users are also reporting the addition of various filter options, including “Editions”, “Filter By”, and “Sort By” on the game’s listing page.
There aren’t actually any options to choose from within any of those categories but this somewhat confirms the likelihood of Rockstar Games announcing several versions of GTA VI.
It was previously claimed that six versions would be unveiled by Rockstar Games by one leaker.
The leaker claimed there would be three digital and physical variants as well as a pricey collector’s edition and two PlayStation 5 console bundles.
There’s clearly also some preparation taking place on Xbox with GTA VI’s listing having disappeared and reappeared several times in the last couple of hours.
Until Rockstar Games actually opens pre-orders, a pre-order date cannot truly be guaranteed, but if they don’t open today, it’ll certainly feel like a last-minute change of plans considering all of the evidence that’s out there.
We will, of course, be bringing you all of the relevant pre-order information when it’s made available - and hopefully, pre-orders will be accompanied by the arrival of the game’s third trailer.
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, is due to hold its next quarterly earnings call this week, on 21 May to be exact.
It makes sense that pre-orders would launch before then to give investors something to be excited about.
There is no real benefit to pre-ordering GTA VI as soon as pre-orders do open so if we do see digital storefronts crash later today, do not worry.
You’ll have plenty of time to get your pre–order in between now and that locked-in release date of 19 November.
