GTA VI is coming out next year as long as there are no surprise delays on the horizon, and while the game will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 first the fans are thinking ahead to the next-generation.
It’s been some time since the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 launched and while Microsoft and Sony have released a few minor upgrades here and there fundamentally they’ve all been the same console, just with a few marginal improvements.
The next-generation of Xbox and PlayStation hardware is a hot topic at the moment, especially following the rumours that Xbox would be dropping out of hardware entirely. This has since been disproven by Microsoft that has confirmed it still has plans for a new console.
When they’ll come out is anyone’s guess but their potentially imminent announcement and release has GTA VI fans worried about upgrades.

Grand Theft Auto fan tinyspeckinspace doesn’t own a new-gen console and plans to get one to play GTA VI, but are worried they’ll then miss out on the next home console.
I know I'll buy a PS5 for GTA 6, but I feel pretty bad about it” began their post. “Because I am sure soon after the game's release, Sony will announce the PS6 which will have something like GTA 6 Enhanced with 60FPS that will blow the 30fps PS5 version out of the water. PS5 is at the end of its life cycle, yet GTA 6 is just starting. It feels like a scam.”
They then said: “Something tells me this is a deliberate move to double dip on consumers. Counting PCs, triple dip even.”
A PC version of GTA VI hasn’t been announced yet but will likely launch sometime after the console versions.

Adding to the discussion one commenter said “If the PS4 is a telling factor the PS5 will have new games even when the PS6 comes out. I do think that the PS6 won't come until 2027 or 2028. My guess is mid 2028.”
Another added “PS6 could easily be 2028. Sell your PS5 around that time, then you’re paying substantially less for the 6. Also, being at the edge of console gaming is expensive. Just the way it is.”
GTA VI is obviously going to have some sort of upgrade for next-gen consoles, that said the difference will likely be minimal, so just getting it for the PlayStation 5 will be fine.
