GTA 6 PC Specs Have Gamers Braced For a Monster

It's going to be a beast

If the two trailers we've been served up so far are anything to go by then GTA VI is going to be visually stunning.

Outside of that, Vice City also seems like the densest and busiest city that Rockstar has developed so far, with thousands of characters going about their daily business simultaneously.

If you can't already tell where I'm going with this, it's going to be very taxing on the older hardware found in many gaming PCs and a lot of players are going to have to take the leap and upgrade if they want the game to run at anything like an acceptable level.

Over on Reddit, the game's community has been speculating on what exactly the minimum and recommended specs are going to look like. There are some sound theories to be found there, but most are in agreement that the game is going to be an absolute monster to run on max settings.

"If you want to make an educated guess look for the jump in specs needed from GTA 5 to RDR 2 (same base engine, but advanced) and compare the jump from PS3 to PS4 and PS4 to PS5. What we know: It will (has to) run in upscaled 4K 30fps on the base PS5 and probably even on the Xbox Series S in lower resolution. So around Ryzen 3700X, RTX 2070 (or newer 8GB VRAM card) and 16GB RAM minimum for 1080p medium settings on PC," one analytical user said.

"My guess is that as long as you have beefy PC you most likely will be fine. Anything above 13th generation i5 and above 3070 will run the game fine medium to above," another added.

Others were pointing to the Xbox Series S as a possible reason that players might not need to be too worried, with one saying, "Probably something close to or below Series-S to reach 30fps. You could technically go to 60fps+ on pc with the same hardware and upscaling (DLSS/XeSS/FSR)….if the game is more GPU bound."

The major thing to bear in mind when thinking about all of this is that the PC version is going to be a bit further away than we might all like to admit. GTA VI is set to release on consoles next May, but the PC edition likely won't be anywhere near that. GTA V took almost two years to land on PC, though Rockstar will want to shorten that timeline this time around.
