According to a recent leak, Rockstar Games is taking a cue from two very unlikely sources for Grand Theft Auto VI’s online; Fortnite and Roblox.

This is all based on a recent leak from Digiday’s Alexander Lee, who revealed that “Rockstar Games has been in discussions with top Roblox and Fortnite creators, as well as dedicated “GTA” content creators, about the potential to create custom experiences inside the upcoming game…”

Lee states that the leak has been corroborated by “three industry insiders with knowledge of these meetings.”

Over in a thread on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit detailing the leak, those excited for the next version of GTA Online shared their thoughts.

“Depending on the level of tools they give to the creators, I can definitely see a long time healthy community of custom content for years to come after the release, hoping for the best for this game,” commented user cablenetwork.

“The absolute milking of GTA Online when GTA 6 is out is gonna be crazy lol,” replied user CriesAboutSkinsInCOD.

“Take-Two gonna make so much money for the next 10+ years from GTA Online… All of those f**kin streamers on Twitch are gonna have unlimited contents too.”

However, the public opinion seems to be mixed directly down the middle.

While many are excited about the possibilities that user-created content would create, others quite rightly note that the majority of the custom content you can find in games such as Roblox and Fortnite are “slop”.

Ultimately, the quality of the content will reflect the quality of the game itself, so we can only hope that (should the leak prove true) Rockstar Games’ has given creators the appropriate tools they’d require.

We’ll have to wait until we either get our hands on the title, or a new trailer drops, until we can say for sure.
