It seems like fans are getting especially bored of the wait for any Grand Theft Auto VI-related news, because they’ve now taken to messing with Rockstar Games’ new Discord server in a bid to alleviate their restlessness.

As spotted by one user on the r/GTA6 subreddit in a now-deleted post, users on the official Rockstar Games Discord account managed to take advantage of some settings on the server’s MEE6 bot so they could make it post… hundreds of AI-generated images of monkeys.

“I saw it happen in real time,” user TheRoaring2020sNukes commented, “A user by the name of harry used a command that generated a loop of hundreds of images.”

“Some said it was a unnofficial bot. But according to Henry, it is a official Rockstar Games account. A mod disabled the bot after 30 minutes of mayhem.”

This isn’t the only case of said tomfoolery either, as Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen also spotted several examples of users’ immediate descent into GTA VI trailer 2-included madness not long after the server opened its doors.

“I was around for the official Discord server’s first few hours and poked my head into the channel dedicated to GTA 6 to find thousands of messages whizzing by every few seconds,” writes Zwiezen, “most of it was people yelling about wanting the second GTA 6 trailer or hurling insults and slurs at each other.”

“People also spammed erotic ASCII art, flags, and bombarded chat with wild theories about GTA 6 leaks, trailers, and release dates. It was like a concentrated and even more insane version of the GTA community.”

Jeez guys, I know we’re all excited for GTA VI but surely you’ve got better stuff to do with your time?

Then again, this is Discord we’re on about, so perhaps Rockstar should have expected this kind of behaviour and taken steps to tackle it ahead of time.

Lord knows what they’re gonna act like when the second trailer finally does drop.
