GTA VI may be bigger than any of us expected, if recently resurfaced comments from an industry analyst are anything to go by.
Everyone and their gran has made some pretty wild claims about GTA VI in the last year or so, from its price tag to file size. While Rockstar Games has yet to share anything official, we do have the huge leak from last year - a leak fans are still digging through to learn new details. It's this leak that sheds new light on predictions made by an analyst back in 2022.
Here's everything we know about GTA VI!
Comments made by industry analyst Michael Pachter a year or so back were wild enough at the time, but given everything we've recently heard about GTA VI, these claims now sound even more outlandish. If they turn out to be true, however, then GTA VI could be on a scale beyond what we'd imagined.
According to Pachter, GTA VI will have around 400-500 hours of content, which does actually line up with some of the more recent leaks. What's a little more out there is the idea that we'll be able to explore multiple cities across America and Europe. He mentions Los Santos, Liberty City, Vice City, and London, noting that the game will offer missions that sends players all across these locations.
"GTA VI has been in development since 2014," he said. "They may have not been writing code back then as they were figuring out the story, but by 2015 they were writing code. Anybody who is so naive as to think Rockstar with its 2000 employees is sitting on their butts twiddling their thumbs... No, they're not, these guys are working their asses off to create amazing content, but GTA VI is going to take 10 years or more.
"The reason is, my understanding is, it is a mash-up of Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City, and Europe - London for sure. You're going to be able to go anywhere on those continents and you're going to have missions that take you all those places.
"It'll probably be literally a four or five-hundred-hour game by the time they get it out. That's what they are doing now, that's what they've turned GTA VI into. I get it because they're like, we're gonna charge you 60 bucks, and then we're going to give you an online experience and you're going to have to carry drugs from London to LA, you're going to have to go through the port in Miami. They're going to do all this really cool stuff."
Now, I'm not hugely convinced by this. The vast majority of gameplay leaks suggest the game will be predominately set in Vice City, with a smaller map than we may have been expecting. However, it's worth noting that the game's leaked map contains multiple airports, which could hint at the ability to travel to different locations and cities. Even if these cities aren't quite as big as the main open-world Vice City, they could serve as fun areas for more linear missions.
It all sounds a little too good to be true, however, and we'd advise keeping expectations in check. Rockstar knows what it's doing, and I would be surprised if GTA VI strayed much further out of Vice City. One massively detailed open world area is better than dozens of empty ones, right?
