GTA 6 Map Could Expand Beyond Florida, Gamers Agree

Could the game be bigger than we thought?

GTA VI is set to feature its own interpretation of Florida, but gamers believe it may go beyond that.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be set in the state of Leonidas, home to Vice City and based on the real-life Florida state.

It’s set to be an absolutely massive game, and Vice City is all but confirmed to only be a part of the game’s open world in the same way that GTA V was not limited to only Los Santos.

Some gamers believe that GTA VI also won’t be limited to just Leonidas, but will go beyond that and venture into other states that border it in future expansions.

In real life, Florida is located south of Georgia (which appears to be called “Gloriana” in the GTA universe) and south-east of Alabama.

It’s also near South Carolina, Louisiana, and Mississippi. So there’s always the chance that the future GTA VI map could feature a small part of these states as well.

“What do you think of the theory that Rockstar will expand the GTA VI map in future expansions? What city do you think could be the first DLC?” reads a thread on the GTA VI Reddit page.

“There are quite a few clues that the border of Rockstar's next game is strategically designed for future expansions into other states in the form of DLC,” reads the original post, ending with the question: “Is Vice City just the beginning?”

Fans have different theories, but a common answer appears to be that yes, they believe this may be what the future of the game holds.

“Could very well be yeah, but not a chance they'll grow it anywhere near to the entire US,” reads one comment. “Personally I hope that if they expand the map post launch they'll also look at including the Caribbean. Just having a bunch of islands to the south could be cool.”

“Gloriana I see being a planned map expansion for sure,” reads another comment. “If it’s not at all present at launch I don’t see why they’d go to the effort of creating a new state with its own license plates if they have no plans for it.”

“Personally I think they’ll go the same way as V, and pour all their extra resources into online,” reads a third comment. “I hate that that’s what I expect, because I would love a single player expansion. But with the money online makes them, I doubt it.”

Earlier this month, Grand Theft Auto VI was delayed to 19 November, 2026. It’s expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
