To no surprise whatsoever, it feels like the map of GTA VI could exceed all of our expectations.

Despite not releasing until next year, the next entry in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto is almost constantly the buzz of the video game industry across social media.

In fact, years before Rockstar Games officially announced GTA VI with its first trailer, it was a near impossible task avoiding the latest reports related to its now infamous gameplay leaks, taken from an early build of the game.

More recently, we were treated to the second GTA VI trailer, and it did not disappoint, giving us our best look yet at the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, as well as one of its locations, the returning Vice City.

However, we’re yet to see any proper gameplay or just how big the GTA VI map is. That being said, fans have been speculating just how dynamic Rockstar Games’ newly crafted open world might be.

“How do you think they will expand the GTA VI map?” asked Redditor Leader-Artistic. “I have wondered about this a lot.”

“GTA V had island additions, but also map additions with buildings. I think this time it will be more. Either they add islands, or they enlarge the main island, or allow us to move further north, where previously we couldn't, if there is a land border.”

“I could see 'Georgia' being added or maybe a new city like Jacksonville or something,” replied KLGodzilla.

“I think the expansions are gonna be 25-50% the size of the map. The question is when the expansions are gonna be released, I'd say a 25% expansion is worth waiting a year or two for,” explained marckh.

“I think that new tech allows them to do it without the loading screens, and this time they must have it planned out better than GTA V,” said the author of the post.

Assuming it suffers no delay, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC port is yet to be announced.
