GTA 6 fans are furious over price increase at Rockstar Games

GTA 6 fans are furious over price increase at Rockstar Games

The price is very much not right

A new price increase quietly announced by Rockstar Games this week has left GTA VI fans - and everyone else, for that matter - pretty ticked off.

Gaming is becoming an increasingly expensive hobby. First £70 price tags on AAA games started to become the norm, then subscription services like PlayStation Plus started raising their prices.

Now, GTA VI developer Rockstar Games has announced its own price hike, because lord knows the publisher and creator of one of the biggest video game franchises of all time doesn't have enough cash.

Take a look at GTA VI in action below!

GTA+, the monthly subscription service that offers players access to exclusive GTA Online perks plus a selection of free games, is officially getting more expensive.

In lieu of any kind of official announcement from Rockstar, Reddit user mercadess550owner was first to spot the 33 percent increase in price.

On both Xbox and PlayStation, GTA+ has increased from £4.99 ($5.99) a month to £6.99 ($7.99) a month.

Needless to say, this has not gone down well at all with the Grand Theft Auto community, with many believing we're in for another price increase when GTA VI launches.

"I’m calling it, that shit is going to be $10 or more when GTA VI drops," one Reddit user commented.

Another added: "I'm fully expecting something like [GTA VI] online being 'free to play' but with a GTA+ like subscription or battlepass system that makes it not worth playing without.

"Worst case expectation is it won't be free to play, but they'll keep the subscription or battlepass. Either way, my expectations for them to do the right thing with online are basically zero."

A number of GTA VI fans recently agreed they'd be happy to pay more than $70 for the game when it finally launches, but that's assuming what we get is a complete product on its own, and not something that's been chopped up and paywalled.
