GTA VI is going to surpass all expectations, mark my words. If you thought the hype around Hollow Knight: Silksong’s launch was impressive you’ve seen nothing yet.
Only a game like GTA VI can make the waves it did just from being delayed. It felt like the world collectively let out a scream of outrage, which quickly transitioned into acceptance as no one wanted Rockstar to rush its next big project.
That said, we're well into September now and many are coming to terms with the fact that in another universe we might just be playing the game right now…
Perhaps that’s a bit generous, but at the very least we’d be a few weeks away from launch day as the game was originally scheduled for Fall 2025, though the exact month was never confirmed.

“If GTA 6 hadn't been delayed to 2026, we would have played it in 1/2 months” read a Reddit thread by mike56546.
It’s heartbreaking to think about, but again we’d rather Rockstar take its time with the game rather than fire it out when it’s not finished.
That sentiment was echoed throughout the comments, with one user saying it’s “better wait for a masterpiece than a rushed unfinished game, this game gonna feed us for generations to come.”
Others pointed out that we’d have properly been well into the game’s marketing by now too, as so far all we’ve had are two trailers, both of which focused more on the new story and characters rather than the game itself.

Despite all the hype surrounding it, we’ve still not seen what gameplay for GTA VI looks like.
Usually I’d say that’s a call for concern but it’s a Grand Theft Auto game, the gameplay hasn’t really changed since the series went 3D with GTA III.
With the game now scheduled for 2026 we’ll likely see that gameplay trailer either as a special presentation at the end of this year, or perhaps around February/March next year.
At least with the game delayed it gives us a chance to enjoy some of the latest and upcoming releases, like Ghost Of Yōtei which drops very soon, Silent Hill f, which I’m very excited for, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo fans.

For now we look ahead to our next look at GTA VI, which Rockstar will drop on a random day of the week with no prior warning.
