GTA 6 Countdown Shows We're Much Closer Than We Thought

A more hopeful way of looking at things

It is a hard pill to swallow to realise that it is still a year to go until we can finally get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI.

It is especially hard when you remember that the original release date was scheduled for Fall 2025, meaning that if that had come to fruition, we could have been playing Grand Theft Auto VI as we speak.

However, after being delayed to 26 May 2026 and then finally delayed once again to 19 November 2026, it has been a long wait, especially when you consider that it has been well over a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto entry was released.

That being said, it is 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V that is the subject of today’s positive news.

Pointed out on the GTA 6 Countdown Twitter account, “We’re actually 92% of the way to GTA 6 if you count from the GTA 5 launch (September 17, 2013). This is the final stretch.”

Posted alongside a chart detailing the length of time between Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto VI, if you look at it this way, we are actually very close to the latter’s launch.

You cannot deny that it is a much better way to look at it, rather than the other graphs that have been reset since Rockstar Games announced the latest delay.

With many fans believing that this will be GTA VI’s third and final delay, if Rockstar’s previous methods are anything to go by, we are in the homestretch even if that means waiting another year to finally get our hands on the most anticipated video game of all time.

Positivity is spreading

“Well, when you put it like that I guess we are close,” one user replied.

Another agreed, adding, “I’m gonna start looking at it like this tbh.”

If you are anything like me, then you live quite a pessimistic life but this is definitely a more optimistic way of looking at things and will definitely make that last wait that little bit easier.

“Not much longer to wait then. Only 8% to go,” another hopeful fan commented.

“In my opinion I know it's a bit of a pain, but I can understand them wanting to make sure the servers are in working order and make sure things are looking smooth. It should be worth it.”

Hopefully Grand Theft Auto VI will indeed be worth it when it launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026.
