Some Grand Theft Auto V fans have concluded that protagonist and mass murderer Franklin is actually a terrible person, because of the collar that Chop is sporting in one piece of GTA V artwork.
Chop is a good boy. Well, maybe he does maim a few people throughout the course of Grand Theft Auto V’s story, but c’mon– look at his sweet little face and tell me he’s not a sweetheart.
That’s probably why some folks over on the r/GTA subreddit aren’t too happy with his adoptive owner, Franklin, following a post from one user that features a piece of Rockstar Games’ official artwork from the in-game loading screen.
You see, in the artwork, Franklin appears to have strapped a “pinch” collar on Chop. These are apparently used to simulate the feeling of a bite around a pooch’s neck when they pull on their leash.

Naturally, a few commenters are upset at Franklin for putting one on these on sweet little Chop.

“These are the last resort at the end of a long list of completely failed alternative options,” commented user sladebonge.
“He murders countless people and your like poor chop. Yes poor chop but be more accurate to say Franklin is a huge piece of s**t. (all gta protagonists fit the bill),” replied user Ederlas.
“You might as well add a shock collar because that kind of collar he has on in my opinion is animal abuse,” commented another user.
That being said, just as many commenters in the thread have stated that they don’t have an issue with pinch collars being used on dogs. According to some of the said commenters, these collars don’t actually hurt dogs.
Now, I don’t know if that’s true, but I still think that you’d have to be a pretty lousy dog owner if you had to resort to using one of these on your beloved pet.
However, I do think it’s kind of funny that some commenters have decided to draw the line at animal abuse in a GTA game.
You can commit so many crimes in these games. By the time I was finished with GTA V’s story, Franklin had easily racked up a body count in the thousands.
Hey, look, I get it. I don’t like seeing poor, goofy Chop get hurt either, but if you suddenly think Franklin is a bad guy because of this, and not because of the laundry list of crimes he’s already committed, then I’d hate to hear what your opinion of Trevor is…
