God of War Remaster Demo Has Us Craving a Full Release

Give it to us, Sony!

One dedicated God of War fan has made an Unreal Engine 5 remaster concept of the original game, and it’s got me wanting to play the full thing.

The original God of War games may not be as popular as the two Norse reboot titles, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pay respect towards them.

The Greek saga games remain some of the best action games you can get on the PlayStation 2, with plot, gameplay, and style that rivals many titles released today.

However, it’s also pretty clear that the game could do with a bit of a facelift. Those PS2 graphics were amazing for the time, but things have moved on and many fans yearn for a remake that brings those games in line with the recent stunners Sony has been putting out.

God of War remake concept is incredible

Digital artist Alifilmworx has been hard at work developing a God of War remake concept using Unreal Engine 5 to create something that looks like it was made in 2025.

In total, they’ve published two videos on their YouTube channel so far showing their process and the final result.

The first video was released back in February, and details Alifilmworx’s work on recreating the God of War intro with Unreal Engine 5 graphics.

The actual work is incredibly impressive, with modern lighting, detail, and sound really selling this concept to us.

The most recent video was released just earlier this month, and goes even harder at this concept by showcasing some action:

Both videos really show just how much work goes into creating video game assets, even ones that are pre-rendered like the two videos Alifilmworx has done so far.

Obviously, one digital artist on a home computer isn’t going to match up against a team of game developers working on expensive technology, but considering Alifilmworx was able to make this alone is incredible.

And it’s got me wanting a proper God of War remake, and I know I’m not alone in that. This year marked the 20th anniversary of God of War, and many felt that this would have been the right time to release a remake.

After all, we’re a few years on from God of War: Ragnarok now, and it looks like whatever the next game will be is not quite ready yet. It’d also be nice to have the entire series available on PS5 and PC rather than just the latter entries, but we’ll take what we can get.
