Xbox Game Pass is back at it with an epic deal featuring a 2017 action-adventure game which is set to receive a sequel very soon, making it the perfect time to get stuck in.

For fans of the Norse mythology featured in God of War, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a story of a broken warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness. Released in 2017, Senua’s Sacrifice by British developers Ninja Theory went on to win a BAFTA and Game Award and was praised for its immersive narrative and respectful depiction of mental illness.

Check out the upcoming Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 trailer below!

Senua’s Sacrifice tells the story of Senua, a Celtic warrior during the Viking age who must embark on a quest to Viking Hell known as Helheim to fight for the soul of her dead lover. As well as battling physical threats, she must battle her own mind as she learns to deal with her psychosis. To make her mental illness as authentic as possible, Ninja Theory have revealed that they worked with neuroscientists throughout development.

In July 2023, Ninja Theory chose the Xbox Showcase to announce the upcoming sequel titled Senua's Saga: Hellblade II which is set for release some time in 2024. As you can imagine, the award-winning title has a legion of excited fans excited for Senua’s adventures. Following on from the events of the first game, we follow the titular character as she travels through a Viking Iceland intent on saving those who have fallen victim to tyranny.

Until then, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently available for no extra cost for Xbox Game Pass members. With the main story featuring 7-hours of content, it is the perfect small title to play over the festive period (if you like things a bit on the darker side). Additionally, the game usually retails at around £25 so don’t miss out on this epic deal!
