Back in March, there were whispers on the wind of a live-action God of War TV adaptation making its way to Prime Video, and I think we can all agree that we need that in our lives. People immediately began speculating who we might see step into Kratos’ big burly boots, with Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman becoming a bizarre, but also incredibly perfect fan-favourite choice.

At the time, insiders claimed that alongside Sony Pictures Television, the show would be developed by The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, as well as The Wheel of Time executive showrunner Rafe Judkins, and that PlayStation’s dedicated TV and film team, PlayStation Productions, would be producing it. Now, as reported by PlayStation Universe, it’s official - Sony has confirmed that the show is on the way.

We can only hope that this amazing deleted line from the game makes it into the series, somehow.

The news was revealed by Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO, Jim Ryan, during a Q&A in business briefing. As previously expected, the series is indeed coming to Amazon Prime, although no further details about it have been given at this time. Excitingly, this isn’t the only project in the works - Netflix is set to make a series for Horizon Zero Dawn, and there’s also going to be an adaptation of Gran Turismo, oddly. How that’s going to work, I have no idea.

Sony sure have a lot of games being transformed into TV and film - let’s not forget that The Last of Us is also on its way to screen (well, it was always on screens, but you know what I mean), as is Twisted Metal. Ghost of Tsushima has a movie in the works, not to mention the fact that the Uncharted film released earlier this year.

Amazon Prime is also working on the Fallout TV series, which is apparently set to start filming this summer, so hopefully we won’t be waiting too long until we see something of that.
