Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us Part 2 is now officially the most-awarded video game of all time, after the number of awards it received from both media outlets and reader choices have been collated. The dystopian future title has received not only many Game of the Year awards but it was also praised for other attributes like accessibility features, narrative, voice acting, and environment design.

According to GameAwards.Net, The Last of Us Part 2 received a total of 261 awards - media outlets awarded 169 of those, and readers' chose another 92 of those titles. That means that it has beaten the previous holder, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by ten awards. CD Projekt Red's 2015 game achieved a staggering 251 awards when it came out, just a touch under Naughty Dog's title.

The Last of Us Part 2 really cleared up the award this year and the next highly awarded title of the year was Hades with a comparatively small 53 awards. Personally, we think Hades is a top class game, which is why we awarded it with the GAMINGbible Game of the Year title - it's a fantastic game to try out if you haven't already.

Ghost of Tsushima comes just under Hades in terms of the number of awards with a respectable 49 titles, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons follows that up with 25 awards. Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Doom Eternal are the only other games to get into double digits for awards before Half-Life: Alyx, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Microsoft Flight Simulator get a mention.

It's certainly interesting to see what games are those both outlets and readers thought were the best of 2020. While we at GAMINGbible voted for Hades as our favourite of the year, when we asked our readers (that's you lot) what you thought the best game of the year was, you said The Last of Us Part 2. It's all subjective, we suppose, it's just about the games we like and that's okay.
