In the mood to play one of the best Star Wars video games on the go while simultaneously getting a hearty dose of RPG action? You're in luck. Lucasfilm has just announced that the iconic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is being ported to Android, iOS, and iPad mobile port on December 18th. This is a great day.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is the Obsidian-developed sequel to BioWare's original Star Wars RPG, and remains to this day one of the most-loved video game adventures in the Star Wars universe. Released way back in 2004, there's a good chance quite a few of you haven't actually played it yet, making this port the perfect chance to experience the game for yourself.

Believe me when I say there's a reason most of us who've played it never really shut up about it when talking about the best Star Wars games. This is the ultimate single-player experience - a hefty RPG with dozens of hours of content, branching paths, unforgettable characters, and some genuinely difficult choices and unexpected consequences. By the time the credits roll you'll be desperate to see many of the game's cast brought to life on the big screen.

Set five years after the original game (which you don't really need to play first but probably should), Knights Of The Old Republic II deals with a time long before the events of the movies. The Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. With the Jedi Order completely falling apart at the seams, the Republic once again places its hopes on one lone Jedi - one who could follow the light or fall to the Dark Side. That lone Jedi is you, by the way. Obviously.

"Fans have been asking for a mobile version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for so long, and we're thrilled to finally bring it to them," said Elizabeth Howard, vice president of publishing at Aspyr. "We're proud to continue working with Lucasfilm to bring classic titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II to modern platforms."

Now please, please bring both KOTOR games to Switch next, okay? Great.
