Disney has surprised us with the assurance that a new Star Wars title will be revealed before the end of the year, sparking speculation that it could be a The Mandalorian game.
Earlier this year, XboxEra founder and industry insider Nick "Shpeshal Ed" Baker claimed that one of Xbox's studios is working on an adaptation of the TV show that took the world by storm last year. Seeing that Baker has a rather reliable track record, for example, correctly predicting that Final Fantasy VII Remake would come to PlayStation Plus in March, we kept our wits about us for any leaks or details on the possible game.
There was that snippet of gameplay from something that was parading as the anticipated adaptation, however, this was shot down as a fake very swiftly. While we wait for anything that resembles a video game version of The Mandalorian, Ubisoft has its nose to the grindstone on an untitled Star Wars project that will be "original", "unforgettable," and a "departure" from the bread and butter of the studio. Intriguing.

So, with the oncoming Bring Home the Bounty campaign that will announce new Star Wars toys, collectibles, books, apparel, and more til the end of December, we've now got the knowledge that a new Star Wars game is getting shown off on December 14th. Can I just say, cheers Disney. Thank you for giving us the date of the announcement. That makes things much simpler for us journalists waiting eagerly for the news to drop.
While this is likely to be the first we'll see of Ubisoft's game, rumours are running rampant that the studio behind Detroit: Become Human is also developing a Star Wars game. Tom Henderson, a notorious Battlefield and Warzone leaker, said that Quantic Dream and Disney entered negotiations for a new game in a galaxy far, far away after the expiration of the former's partnership with Sony.

Moreover, Quantic Dream's official Twitter account liked a Tweet that claimed it was working on a Star Wars game but it was un-liked with some urgency. It's an interesting turn of events, especially as the majority of Star Wars games have been some sort of shooter or RPG and the studio focuses on diverging narrative titles.
