In unexpected numbers news, EA's Star Wars Battlefront II was downloaded an incredible 19 million times in the last week. The multiplayer shooter focused around recreating Star Wars battles on planets near and far has been picked up 19 million times after being made free on the Epic Games Store for a short period of time.
The EA Star Wars account on Twitter tweeted out the fun fact, and it was spotted by PCGamesN. The tweet reads, "More than 19M players got Star Wars Battlefront II from the Epic Game Store promo! Thank you so much for the continued support, even after our final content drop! We'll watch your careers with great interest! May the Force be with you, troopers!" And the account even got a little sassy, adding "If you see a "shiny" on the battlefront, be sure to show them how to play the objective!" Honestly is there anything more frustrating than a team that won't play the objective?
In any case, this is a pretty impressive number of downloads considering development on the project has ended, as the tweet says. EA are, of course, still maintaining the game, but there isn't any further content planned for Star Wars Battlefront II. However, and that's a big, however, there are rumours swirling that a Star Wars Battlefront III is going to be on its way eventually. This push for new players to try Battlefront II might just be a great way for players to try the franchise for when EA's next Battlefront title is revealed.
There has been a lot of Star Wars games related news in the last few weeks - we're barely keeping up ourselves. It's being reported that a Knights of the Old Republic 3 is being made outside of EA after EA lost Star Wars games exclusivity at the beginning of this year. And we already know that there is an open-world Star Wars game coming from Ubisoft eventually. Oh, and how could we forget the rumour of a second Jedi: Fallen Order on the way too. We need a sit-down, it's all too much.
