This year's Awesome Games Done Quick speedrunning event ran across last week, January 3-10, and organisers have now revealed that a terrific $2.75 million (and change) was raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation. That's about £2.3 million, on current exchange rates.

Players at AGDQ 2021 applied their speedrunning skills to titles including Super Mario 64, Left 4 Dead 2, Mr Bones, Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Mania and Pokémon Platinum. New world records were set, including a run of Diablo III in under an hour and 20 minutes, and SEGA's Shinobi Legions in under 45 minutes.

A complete archive of AGDQ 2021 videos can be found on YouTube here. Among the further highlights: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening beaten in 26 minutes, Dishonored 2 in half an hour, and... Celeste on a dance mat, because obviously.

Seriously. It's borderline superhuman, I swear. Give it your eyes, below:

AGDQ isn't the only significant speedrunning event of any year, of course. The gang gets back together in the summer for, you guessed it, Summer Games Done Quick. And in April 2020, the speedrunning community participated in Corona Relief Done Quick.

The money raised by 2021's ADGQ takes the Games Done Quick total to $31 million, for various charities around the world. In the past, the events have also supported (among others) Direct Relief, AbleGamers, Doctors Without Borders and the Malala Fund.

You can still donate to Prevent Cancer Foundation through AGDQ 2021 at this link. More information on future events can be found at the Games Done Quick website.
