Speedrunner Beats 'Ocarina Of Time' Inside A Five Minute Demo

And it's all done inside Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Once upon a time, there was a fighting game called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Many of you will know it was one of the most beloved fighting titles of all time, spawning the career of many esports pros, and entertaining people of all ages for years. If you're unaware, Super Smash games offer a compilation of characters from not only Nintendo properties but series from all over the gaming world.

To help intro some players to the origins of the playable characters, Brawl offered a little demo section of the game. In the Masterpieces menu, players could unlock games to play with a five-minute time limit so you would have to go and actually purchase the title if you wanted to see more. However, one speedrunner has now worked out how, in this Masterpieces section, they could technically finish The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Here are the most unforgettable moments in Zelda games...

As GameRant reports, the five-minute limit that speedrunner Savestate had to beat the game in sounds really difficult. The demos, because of their short time limit, do allow for players to try out two different save files, a young and an adult Link. The latter has just enough items in the file for the runner to exploit specific glitches and get the ending credits to roll, essentially ending the game.

You can watch the entire run, which clocks in at an incredible 4 minutes and 38 seconds below.

Now as Savestate mentions, there might be some that are upset that Ganon isn't defeated in this run, because that's officially the ending of the game. However, they've actually completed that run too which can be found on YouTube.

Savestate seems pretty pleased about their times - mostly it seems to have just proven that despite the really tight time limit that finishing the demos as a speedrunner is actually possible which is an achievement we applaud.
