'Skyrim Anniversary Edition' Is Coming To Next-Gen Consoles, Because Of Course It Is

We are all born to die. But Skyrim is forever.

To the surprise of precisely nobody, Bethesda just announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This new edition of the 2011 open-world RPG is being released on November 11 this year to celebrate the iconic game's tenth anniversary.

Don't worry though, it sounds like this special Anniversary Edition is also making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, because apparently re-releasing the game once as Skyrim: Special Edition on those consoles wasn't enough.

Take a look at our very own virtual tour of Skyrim below!

"For fans looking to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Skyrim - or newcomers ready to take their first step into Tamriel's northern landscape - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition releases November 11, 2021 for PlayStation 4 consoles with backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5 systems," reads a post on the PlayStation Blog.

This new edition of Skyrim contains the three main expansions - Dawn Guard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn - plus all the visual upgrades that were present in Skyrim Special Edition. Skyrim Anniversary Edition will also come with over "500 unique pieces of Creation Club content, including quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more". Oh, and a new fishing minigame. I hate myself for knowing I'm going to check this out solely because of the fishing.

For those keeping score, this means that from November 11 there will be multiple versions of Skyrim available on the following platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation VR, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Truly, Skyrim has become as inevitable as the sunrise - or ports of Grand Theft Auto V. Don't forget Rockstar's own open-world epic is also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in November. What a big month for games we've already played to death November will be.
