Netflix Has Cast The Best Wesker In Live-Action Resident Evil Series

Netflix has two Resident Evil shows waiting in the wings, and this news is about the live-action one following the Wesker family. Lance Reddick has been cast as the villainous Albert Wesker, and words cannot express how excellent this choice is.

You'll likely recognise Lance Reddick for playing the police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in The Wire, though he actually almost missed out on one of his most iconic roles. And, while rehearsing for his role as the Continental Hotel's concierge Charon in John Wick, he found out that his character would speak with an African accent only one week before he was scheduled on set. His compelling presence on the small and silver screen and history of playing authority figures will make him a magnificent Albert Wesker in the anticipated live-action Resident Evil series in the works with Netflix. In our humble opinion, of course. The announcement arrived alongside a number of other actors - Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nunez - who have been brought on board the show as undisclosed characters.

"Six billion cries of agony will birth a new balance. Unfortunately, it's too late for you. You will not live to see the dawn." Nasty piece of work, that Albert Wesker. However, he's not a patch on the most terrifying moment of Resident Evil Village. Steel your nerves and check it out here.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," said Andrew Dabb, the showrunner of Resident Evil. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

The premise of the show is a little offbeat, so I'll bring everyone up to speed on the storyline. Split across two timelines (think Netflix's The Witcher), in the first section, Albert's daughters Billie and Jade Wesker have upped sticks to New Raccoon City. Yet, it becomes clear that this picture-perfect town isn't everything that they'd hoped and that their father may be responsible for the dark secrets hidden under the floorboards. In the second section, thirty-year-old Jade is grappling with the realities of a post-apocalyptic Earth where six billion creatures have been transformed by the T-virus, and her traumatic past continues to bleed through into the present. It's definitely intriguing and will be a welcome foil to the animated show, Infinite Darkness.

Netflix's Resident Evil does not have a specific release window pencilled out yet, but we'll update you as soon as we learn more.
