Multiple PlayStation users are reporting that they're currently unable to play PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games online after downloading the most recent system software update.
Sony rolled out updates for both consoles earlier today, bringing a number of new features and accessibility options. However, it seems that the update has led to a widespread outage affecting hundreds of users.
As spotted by VGC, social media is currently awash with gamers on PS5 and PS4 struggling to access a number of games, including Destiny and The Elder Scrolls Online.
The website Down Detector, which tracks major network outages via user reports, appears to confirm that PlayStation, FIFA, Grand Theft Auto Online, Call of Duty and Battlefield are currently experiencing issues. GAMINGbible has also downloaded the update, and can confirm that all of the games mentioned above appear to be experiencing issues. Attempting to log into Elden Ring greets us with the message: "Could Not Verify PlayStation Plus subscription".
Some users have advised simply restarting the console appears to have done the trick, however we're greeted with the same messages upon rebooting the PS5. It's unclear what the exact nature of the issue is, but the inability to verify PlayStation Plus suggests that the error is on Sony's end.
