Sony Interactive Entertainment's Santa Monica Studio has started hiring for an as-yet unannounced game, which would suggest the studio has a separate project on the go alongside God Of War: Ragnarök. One that may even be entirely unrelated to the Ghost Of Sparta.

"We are seeking an experienced Art Director for the development of a new unannounced title!" reads a job description on the studio's website. "Do you love collaborating to build genre-defining games? Join us as we embark on a new journey!"

God Of War:
Ragnarök, a sequel to 2018's excellent God Of War reboot, was first announced during the PlayStation 5 reveal event last year. Details on what exactly we can expect from this sequel are fairly thin on the ground right now, though we can safely assume that it will deal with the fallout from Kratos and Atreus' quest in the first game. It also seems a safe bet that Ragnarök, the end of all things, will play a role. It'd be weird if it didn't, right?

This unannounced project sounds like it might just be an entirely new IP, however. As per the the job listing, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing "the aesthetic pillars of the project, so it can be executed via defined specifications, reference materials, and style guides for environments, characters and creatures, props, lighting, and special effects". Sure sounds to me like the beginnings of something brand-new rather than an established franchise.

Santa Monica Studio currently has 27 open positions for full-time roles look for applicants to "join us as we embark on a new journey". This project is likely in the earliest stages right now, so I can't imagine we'll be hearing much - if anything - about it this year. Still, we'll keep our ears to the ground.
