Tributes have flooded in for Chernobyl and Friday Night Dinner actor Paul Ritter following his tragic passing at the age of 54. Ritter's agent confirmed that he died of a brain tumour. He's survived by his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah.
Ritter is perhaps best known and loved here in the UK as loveable idiot Martin Goodman in Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner, but he had us all on the edge of our seats in Chernobyl as deputy-chief engineer Anatoly Dyatlov. He also appeared in a number of major movie and TV projects, including Quantum Of Solace and Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince.
Friends, family, fans and colleagues remember Ritter as an incredibly kind and generous talent. Actor and writer Stephen Mangan said he was lucky to know his old friend. Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper praised Ritter as a man who touched so many hearts, while co-star Tom Rosenthal hailed him as "devastatingly intelligent". Meanwhile, fans recalled his many, many, many moments of genius as Martin Goodman.
