Leaked 'Star Wars 1313' Details Prove It Was A Boba Fett Game

It's not a story EA would tell you.

Star Wars 1313 is perhaps one of the most infamous and heartbreaking cancelled video games in history. Not an awful lot is known about the doomed title, but a few pieces of information have trickled out over the years. Not that that makes its continued absence any easier, mind.

We know, for instance, that developer LucasArts was aiming for a mature rating. We also understand that the game would have seen players control a bounty hunter and explore Level 1313, a seedy city located on Coruscant. Beyond that? Star Wars 1313 is an enigma. The game, while promising, was ultimately shelved in 2013 when EA took control of the Star Wars video game license.

It's been rumoured a few times over the years that Star Wars 1313 was actually supposed to tell the story of one bounty hunter in particular: Boba Fett. While I have always been willing to point out that Boba Fett didn't actually do anything of any interest in the two Star Wars films he was actually in... I have to admit that he always looked super cool, at least.

More to the point, the extended lore did a much better job than the films of making him an interesting characters which is... kind of how Star Wars has always worked, to be fair.

My point is that I would have loved to have seen him star in a game somewhere down the line, and it now looks all but certain that Star Wars 1313 was supposed to be that game. A fresh image, seemingly from the cancelled title, recently emerged online showing none other than Mr Fett overlooking the gorgeous subterranean metropolis of Level 1313.

Take a look for yourself below, courtesy of LifeByTheSword on Reddit. It's unclear where exactly this image was obtained, or if it can even be trusted as legitimate, but it certainly looks the part. I can't imagine anyone would go to all the trouble of faking a screenshot for a game that was cancelled seven years ago, would they?

Those of you familiar with the original E3 demo might remember that was no trace of Boba Fett in Star Wars 1313. According to various leaks and rumours over the years, LucasArts had actually intended for Fett to kill off the original protagonist at some point in the game before switching control of the bounty hunter over to the player. What a twist that would have been.

It's unlikely that we'll ever know for sure, but this new screenshot at least gives us some kind of idea of what the game might have looked like in action. Even if it's not real, it sure is beautiful.
