If the world was a perfect place, Halo Infinite would be out by now. The game was originally scheduled to release alongside the launch of the Xbox Series X and S, but something stood in its way. Something grey and soulless... Craig. It was Craig all along.
You may remember Craig the brute as the meme that really put a spanner in the works for 343 Industries. I'm being dramatic by saying it was Craig and Craig alone that made all the difference, but his bad reception and the memes that were born from him were an indication that fans thought the game looked unfinished. It wasn't his fault, but he looked so strangely out of place and weirdly constructed that Halo fans really worried about the end product. So the game was delayed, and we're now looking at a December 8, 2021 being when we can finally play the next Halo game.
Here are some of the funniest moments from Halo Infinite so far...
Now, however, some leaked assets from the game have revealed that Craig has had a makeover. Brutes look a lot better in the images that appeared on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours and Halo subreddits, and it seems fans agree. The post from CoronaBeer51 says that brutes look far more like they did back in Halo 2 and 3, which will be welcome news to some of you.

If you look at the picture that's linked on the post, you'll come to see Master Chief claiming victory on a dead brute (ooof, sorry Craig), that has a helmet on. Removed, you can see that the skin is far more realistic, and he's now got facial hair that adds to a grizzled warrior aesthetic. For the sake of not spoiling things, we've only posted the picture (taken from that reddit link) at the very bottom of this piece.
Of course, after an extra year of game development, you'd expect that there would be some improvements like these to impress the player base, but it is good that there is now a tangible difference for fans to see.
Speaking of which, here's the 'new Craig'...
