Netflix's The Witcher sure was a fantasy show, huh? It had plenty of swords, heaps of gore, terrifying monsters, places with hard-to-pronounce names, and lots of attractive people, often without their clothes on. Leading the charge was Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, a man so ridiculously handsome I'm starting to think he might actually be a robot.
In what's surely destined to go down as one of the most iconic moments of the first series of The Witcher, Cavill's weary monster hunter enjoyed a nice long soak in a tub. Even if you haven't seen the show, you've likely glimpsed the scene via a trailer, or maybe you were just feeling lonely one night and decided to Google it.
This live-action tub scene was, as I'm sure you know, a sly reference to a meme-worthy moment in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. At the very start of CD Projekt RED's open world RPG, we meet Geralt similarly having a bath, legs spread in a fairly... suggestive way. People thirsted, official merchandise was made. It was a whole thing.
While still great, Netflix's own take on the tub scene was a little less... steamy. But as it turns out, that wasn't always intended to be the case.

Cavill recently spoke with BBC Radio 1 to discuss The Witcher, where he revealed that he had wanted to emulate game Geralt's famous pose. Unfortunately, he was scuppered by the shape of the tub... and the fact that some of the crew thought it might be a bit too saucy. Cowards.
"I was trying to put my feet up, and I couldn't - the bath was the wrong shape," he explained. "But I thought that might have been a bit much, as well."

While we're still not entirely sure what's in store for the next season of The Witcher, I like to think that Netflix and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will give the fans what they want. And by that, I mean at least one bathtub scene per episode. You know it's the right thing to do, Netflix.
Beyond my wild tub-related dreams, we do know that The Witcher season two will likely air at some point in 2021. Before that however, fans can look forward to a feature-length anime spinoff that details the origins of Geralt's mentor and friend Vesemir.
