It's heist season.

GTA Online's Diamond Casino & Resort finally opened its doors in July this year. The grand unveiling of the swanky Los Santos hot spot came after literal years of teases, and players have spent the last few months happily indulging in minigames and living their best virtual lives in the glitzy penthouse suites.

Now, it would seem the time is finally upon us to do what we do best in GTA Online. Put an ace team together and rob the casino blind. Granted we'll probably just be taking back money we've sunk into the joint ourselves, but it's all about the journey - not the destination.

I should point out that Rockstar hasn't announced anything official just yet, but a brief teaser video shared on Twitter suggests a new heist is indeed on the way. Check out the clip below, which shows our favourite hacker Lester apparently jacking into an ad for the casino, for some undoubtedly nefarious purpose.

For the last few months, players have been able to use the casino to play various minigames, unlock new cars, and go on a handful of new missions. That slew of new content was all well and good, but I think we were all just a little outraged that there was a casino in a crime epic like GTA Online and we couldn't pull a sick heist on it.

In this writer's humble opinion, heists were one of the best things about GTA V and its online mode, so I welcome the chance to put a new team together and go full Ocean's 11. Original, not remake. Obviously.

The last time we got a heist in GTA Online was actually two years ago now. 2017's The Doomsday Heist update saw players embark on a series of missions that included jetpacks, military chicanery, and plenty of action. I'd say we're all more than ready to pull down that next big score, and the casino is the perfect mark, you dig?

Hopefully we don't have too long to wait before Rockstar makes its intentions known. The Doomsday Heist was released in December 2017, so it seems likely that the studio would be keen on dropping the next big heist around the same period. After all, Christmas is the perfect time to gather with friends and take what doesn't belong to you.
