'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' Runtime Confirmed, And It's A Long Boy

It seems we've finally got the runtime for the Doctor Strange sequel, and it's looking like it'll be one of the longest MCU movies yet.

The Doctor Strange sequel has been quite some time coming. First announced back in July 2019, the movie has been hit with an onslaught of delays thanks to the pandemic - it was pushed back just short of a full year from its original 7 May 2021 release date.

We're really creeping up on its premiere now though, and fan excitement is reaching fever pitch. However, given how long this one is meant to be, I hope you're coming prepared with copious amounts of popcorn, an extra large Tango Ice Blast, and an incredibly well trained bladder, because it's an absolute unit.

In case you missed it, check out the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness below.

As reported by ComicBook, according to the movie's listing on the Brazilian ticket site Ingresso, it'll have a runtime of 148 minutes, making it one of the MCU's longest titles yet. That's two hours and 28 minutes, before you go off checking it yourself, which, for comparison's sake, is exactly as long as Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As ComicBook notes, there's only a few MCU movies with a longer runtime than that - Infinity War narrowly beats it (at two hours 29 minutes), as does Eternals, although by a bigger margin (two hours 37 minutes). To the surprise of absolutely no one, Avengers: Endgame remains, of course, the biggest boy of them all, coming in at a whopping three hours and two minutes. If you managed to survive that one without a toilet break, you're probably gonna be fine.

When you consider how tricky filmmaking during the pandemic has been in general, it's no wonder that such a lengthy movie has proved troublesome to pull together, as Benedict Cumberbatch recently told Deadline: "It's been tough. I'll be honest with you. It's had quite a journey, this film," he said. "To try and make a massive film like that under the constrictions of a pandemic and the delays that have ensued, partly because of The Power of the Dog, but also because of everything that was lined up and had to be pushed back from Marvel. It's been tough for everyone. Also, incredibly enjoyable and no less enjoyable than the first one."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally set to hit screens on 5 May in the UK, and 6 May in the US.
