There aren't many Battlefield fans out there who wouldn't agree that Bad Company 2 sits among the very best the longrunning series has to offer. DICE's 2010 shooter took everything about the first Bad Company that worked and kicked it up several notches.

With more modes, an excellent campaign, epic set pieces and eye-watering levels of destruction, Bad Company 2 really was - and remains for many - the ultimate Battlefield experience. That's why it's absolutely no surprise that fans are still begging DICE to make a sequel over ten years later.

Take a look at the newly announced trailer for Battlefield 2042's explosive Portals mode below:

Officially announced last night following months of rumours, Battlefield 2042's Portals mode is essentially a sandbox level editor being developed by Ripple Effect that allows you to build custom games using remastered maps, assets, and characters from every era of Battlefield. The upshot of this is that a handful of Bad Company 2 maps will return looking better than ever... but DICE knows that's still not quite enough for some of you.

Speaking to TheGamer, Ripple Effect general manager Christian Grass explained that DICE and EA are very aware how much you guys still want Bad Company 3. While Grass is hopeful seeing Bad Company 2 remastered maps in Battlefield 2042 will scratch an itch, he'd be very surprised if you all stopped asking for a proper sequel outright.

"I would be very surprised if they do [stop asking] but who knows," Grass joked. "We are really happy that we got Bad Company 2 maps in there. Really good maps, of course. They're also going to be very different - playing Arica Harbor with 128 players is insane, compared to what it used to be. I think people will still ask for it, but who knows."

Yeah, there's no way people are going to stop asking for Bad Company 3. I guess DICE will just have to make it.
