Late last week, a potential teaser for Call Of Duty 2020 appeared on the Xbox store in the form of a game called The Red Door. It wasn't long before a group of dataminers managed to crack open the game's files and start rummaging around to see if they could find any hints as to what Activision has in store for us.
Sure enough, The Red Door alpha contains all manner of juicy teasers for the future - including what the plans are for Infinity Ward's popular battle royale Call Of Duty: Warzone. Dataminers found evidence of four new "zones" which are expected to be added to the battle royale when Call Of Duty 2020 launches - presumably as part of the completely overhauled Cold War-era map that we keep hearing about from various sources.
The four new zones, as spotted by dataminers (via CharlieIntel) are Duga, Forest, Russia, and Ski Slopes. While the latter three are fairly self explanatory, Duga is perhaps the most interesting - and telling - addition to the mix. The Duga radar was essentially an early-warning missile system that the Soviets operated between 1976 and 1989.

According to the internet, two operational Duga radars were deployed. One was near Chernobyl, and the was in Eastern Siberia. Given that the current Warzone map is in the fictional location of Verdansk, it's likely that the Duga radar station that ends up in the game's new map will be based in a new area that's simply inspired by one of the existing locations. We can also surmise from the other leaked zones that the new map will either be in - or near - Russia, with plenty of mountains and snowy slopes.
Activision has yet to comment officially on the possibility of a new map for Warzone, the existence of The Red Door, or what exactly we can expect from Call Of Duty 2020. At this stage though? It's quite clearly a Black Ops reboot, and this will obviously bleed over into Warzone as it leaves behind Modern Warfare and falls in line with the new game. Gotta love that synergy.
Hopefully Activision has an official reveal for us soon, because we're way past the point that the publisher would usually have announced the new game. Plus, the longer they leave it, the less of a surprise it's ultimately going to be. And it's already really not that much of a surprise anymore as it is.
