Over the last month or so, Activision and Raven Software have been teasing a map-shattering event in Call Of Duty: Warzone that will change Verdansk as we know it. A recent teaser video has just confirmed that this doomsday scenario is now mere days away. You might want to get your affairs in order.
Rumours of a nuclear missile wiping out Verdansk have been around since Warzone launched back in March last year, but things have really started to come to a head recently. A warhead, that is.
Since the start of Warzone's latest second season, zombies have slowly but surely been taking over the entire map. The undead fiends first appeared on a crashed cargo ship, but have gradually been spilling out and congregating at other points of interest. A number of leaked voice lines then confirmed that Verdansk would be hit by a nuclear weapon in an effort to wipe out the undead. Between this and the recently leaked footage of an entirely new Verdansk map, it's been clear for a while that the end is nigh. We just didn't know exactly when nigh was.
Activision is now teasing the much-awaited Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call Of Duty: Warzone Season 3, which will usher in the biggest change for the battle royale yet by completely refreshing Verdansk in a cleansing fire of destruction.

"The end is near," read a tweet from the official Call of Duty Twitter account last night, confirming that an in-game event is set to take place on April 21 at 8pm (UK time). It's clear at this point that nuclear missiles and zombies will play a pivotal role in the destruction of Verdansk, but I've no doubt the event itself will be quite a spectacle, and well worth logging into the game to see.
So what exactly will take the place of Verdansk when it's blown to smithereens? According to leaked footage, the new map will simply be a version of Verdansk from the 1980s, closer in theme to Black Ops Cold War.

Many of the landmarks and basic layout of the map will remain roughly the same, but there'll be plenty of new additions and surprises, including a creepy mineshaft and a massive Duga radar station. I can't wait.
