Put some respect on Blade

It's no secret that Wesley Snipes' Blade trilogy too often doesn't get anywhere near the respect it deserves for paving the way to Disney's massive success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As of Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, there are a total of 25 MCU movies that all form one vast (and mighty profitable) universe of superheroes old and new. The MCU itself kicked off with 2008's Iron Man, of course, but could Marvel ever have taken a risk on Tony Stark if previous comic book films hadn't proved there was an appetite for such action on the big screen?

Take a look at the future of the MCU below!

Most fans like to thank the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and Fox X-Men films for laying down the groundwork that would ultimately lead the MCU. Nobody concerned would ever think to thank Daredevil or The Fantastic Four, obviously, because those films are shite, but giving all the credit to Spidey, Wolverine, and the rest of Xavier's school completely glosses over the fact that Blade came first... and it was kind of a hit.

Over on Twitter, fans were quick to point this out in response to a viral tweet that payed tribute to the original Spider-Man and X-Men movies. To be clear, we should never forget the role these movies played in establishing the MCU, but we should also never forget Blade.

Here's hoping the upcoming MCU Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali can live up to the legacy of those original flicks.
