Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has reportedly entered production. The film - which follows up on the monumentally successful Black Panther - will return the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the fictional African country of Wakanda. But this time, King T'Challa will not be there. After four years of battling with colon cancer, Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020.

Fans around the world mourned the loss of such a prominent figure in the acting community, and a man who became the face of hope for many Black Marvel followers. And then came the question: how would Disney continue Black Panther's legacy in the MCU if Boseman was not being recast?

T'Challa will be going up against Klaw in the next Marvel's Avengers DLC, War for Wakanda...

Though we currently don't know how this next film is going to tackle the fate of T'Challa, and how that is going to play into the continuation of the hero's legacy, a Variety article reports that Marvel thinks Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would make Boseman proud.

In conversation with Variety at the Black Widow fan event, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige says the production is "clearly very emotional without Chad. But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We're going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud."

Though Disney made the decision to not recast T'Challa after Boseman's death, there were fans who petitioned the company to change their mind. Some thought it would be better for the legacy of the character to continue on as a strong role model for young people, but ultimately the entertainment company made the call to end T'Challa's journey when Boseman passed away.

Square Enix delayed the release of the Black Panther DLC in Marvel's Avengers after Boseman's passing. Now the War for Wakanda DLC will arrive in August 2021, wherein T'Challa fights to protect his home and its incredible wealth of vibranium.
