It's time. The brand new Assassin's Creed: Valhalla has had its reviews released and we finally get to find out what critics are saying about the next game in Ubisoft's Assassins Creed universe.

Placed firmly in the Viking era of England, you play as either a male or female version of Eivor - a clan leader and strategist that comes to England to find pastures new for their people. Travel around England, while raiding or befriending people, it's up to you.

Right now critics across websites have scored Valhalla a strong 83 on OpenCritic and a slightly better 81 on Metacritic. Basically, all signs point to this being a solid entry into the Assassin's Creed universe - you love to see it.

Some critic highlights include PC Gamer giving it a 92/100. They call it "Ubisoft's best Assassin's Creed to date and "more inviting and fun than Odyssey" - high praise indeed.

GamesRadar+ gives it a similarly glowing 4.5/5 review saying that the open world was beautiful, the combat is wonderfully gory and the story feels like a saga. The only con they listed was that sometimes quest requirements can be a little confusing.

On the other end of the critical reviews, Game Revolution didn't enjoy Valhalla as the others did, scoring it a low 2.5/ 5. The highs included the beautiful environment and expansive combat - however a negative included that the combat is very exploitable. For them, the stealth lacked options, they didn't enjoy the story and thought the world was very same-y. They ultimately compare it to the previous lackluster entry in the series, Assassin's Creed Unity which was famously buggy and broken.

For context, we can have a look back at the reviews for previous games in the series to see how Valhalla might stack up against its siblings. The Greek orientated Assassin's Creed Odyssey scored a 'mighty' 84 average on OpenCritic and an 83 on Metacritic while Origins scored similarly with 85 on OpenCritic and 81 on Metacritic. Looks like Valhalla, although might be slightly lower on these scales at the moment, doesn't completely diverge from the quality of either of these games.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is out November 10.
